Artist Statement

Creating is my way of honoring everyday stories told through posture, style, and gesture. My creations range from soft sculptures to art dolls and hanging art quilts. They serve as statement pieces, embodying my imagination, emotions, and narratives. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, using diverse materials e.g. clay, fabric, seed beads, acrylic paints and fibers, and found objects. My soft sculptures are designed not to mimic reality or tradition but to showcase whimsy and originality. They mirror my personal aesthetic, my influences, and what inspires me. Fairy tales, myths, and legends inspire some of my dolls, while others draw from my life experiences, dreams, and daydreams. These soft sculptures are more than ornamental; they are meant for interaction, encouraging the viewer to engage with them. They possess distinct personalities, backgrounds, and mysteries. They act as my companions, friends, and even extensions of myself. Through my art, I aim to convey my perspective on life's moments with vibrancy and a touch of whimsy.

My work has garnered several awards and been shown in galleries in Charleston, SC; Atlanta, GA; and the Virginia area.
